I’m removing “The Technopian” part of “Nathan Snell” form the title. That means this blog will just be “Nathan Snell’s Blog.” The goal of this isn’t ego driven, such as really pushing home whose blog it is. I’m changing the name for 3 primary reasons:
1. I was trying to coin the phrase “Technopian”. It was a poor word to try to coin and it doesn’t mean anything to anyone. It also returns zero traffic from google so its utility is also pointless.
2. I want to make sure that people realize this is my personal blog. That means what I write about here is sometimes personal. It also means the things I write about are strictly my views, not that of Talk or any other organization I may be advising or working with.
3. It gives me an extra 14 characters to work with in my post titles for SEO*(for the small number of instances I think about that for this blog). When it comes to SEO and your header title* (which your post title becomes when you write it), you have the 60 characters that Google pays attention to, the rest don’t really help with SERPs*.
These changes have already been applied to my blog. But for those of you reading this through e-mail or a feedreader, tomorrow if you’re looking for my feed, be sure to look for Nathan Snell’s Blog, and not “The Technopian”. As these changes happen, please let me know if anyone runs into any issues!
*SEO means Search Engine Optimization
*Your “header title” is the HTML tag that names your webpage. When you write a post, the title of that post becomes this tag, which is what Google looks at.
*SERPs means search engine results page. This is the page of results you get when you Google something.
