The Technopian: Your guide for cyberculture and social media
Hi! This is me. I'll be your guide into the realm of entrepreneurship and social media. If you haven't already, you should subscribe to my blog feed!

Personal Update

It’s been difficult to get my brain focused in long enough to write a solid post. I’ve been really busy the last week and a half or so. Most of it is chalked up to the good kind of busy. Doors for post-graduation have been graciously opening in a blessing like fashion and it’s been time consuming to try to capitalize on those. However, I’ve also been busy doing the senior year workload as I try to finish my entrepreneurship capstone project (full business plan) before my business administration capstone project officially starts (competitive simulation of running a company).

Then of course I work… and we have been riding and creating waves of press for our social networking site. But the load has been more burdensome as of late as a competitor has entered into our marketplace (positive side is that’s validating it). So now I am multi-tasking as we work to observe the competitor, streamline our current social networking site, and reduce friction points. At the same time I am doing the product development of our next one, aimed at a fantastic niche. I’m excited for when we launch, and you will hear more about it as that time approaches.

On top of all that, I do tech stuff for the InterVarsity Chapter here at UNCW. This lead to me spending some extra time figuring out OpenSong and getting it to work within our current Large Group process. OpenSong is quite superior to PowerPoint, but doesn’t have quite the intuitive aspects of it as PowerPoint. Plus getting OpenSong to work with our projector system has been a pain in the ass, to say the least.

The reason for this is that our project has developed a mind of its own. You see, when I connect the project to my laptop, the project refuses to see my laptop despite my laptop seeing the projector. Conversely, my friends’ laptop refuses to see the projector despite the project seeing his laptop. This of course defeats the purpose of using OpenSong and leads to more troubleshooting than I wish to do (which is none).

I will also add that I am now officially registered and set to go to the Blogger Social ‘08. I can’t wait to meet all those bloggers who I have either conversed with regularly or spoken to in brief via comments. I am stoked :)

Lastly, I just found out there is an Ice Rink about 10 minutes from where I am. I love hockey. I used to play roller hockey because I couldn’t play ice (no rink nearby). Obviously that’s no longer an issue, and best of all, they are starting up hockey lessons in about a month. I plan on attending, so I have been spending some time getting my old equipment shipped over here and managing my future schedule. Woohoo! Hockey!

All that said, I will do my best to get some quality, thought provoking posts up this week. And if there’s anything in particular that you might like me to post about, then let me know and I’ll make that a priority :)
