This, that, and the other

I don’t think I’m letting anyone in on anything new when I say having the flu sucks. I can say, happily might I add, that the flu sucks a lot less when you have a sweet girlfriend who helps take care of you through it (I know, she spoils me and Ooo a new mail just hit my inbox).

In other news, I’ve been looking into “social theory” with respect to the internet. I’ve found a few good links that touch on different thoughts involving it. It makes me think of the evolution of early natural philosophy.

Since I’ve been sick I’ve spent far too much time reading blogs (and yet my Google Reader still gives me the daunting 1000+ number). This means I’ve found a bunch of new blogs that I like. Which is fine except I need to re-organize all of my “labels” (tags) in gReader so I remember where things are again.

Going along with reading too many blog posts, I learned something neat about a Wordpress feature. It’s called Post Slug. It allows you to hand write the url of the post. Pretty neat. Click to read more on it.

Video stuff seems to continue to be picking up. Unfortunate, really. I dabbled with it in the past, but it’s a big time sink when it comes to editing at all, I think. Seesmic is some new network-majig that appears to be the closed-beta Twitter of video. Anyways, looks like I will have to put some more hours into video stuff in the future.

I saw something beautiful today (in a non sexually awkward way). It was Ze Frank. The writers strike and such with the WGA has been going on. It’s a terrible thing. Oh so terrible. Writers aren’t writing the scripts so actors can’t act and so forth. So, to the beauty thing. I imagine Ze Frank isn’t fretting too much. Why? He’s already been using new media to put his own content on the web and has been having conversations directly with viewers (the viewers he has grown). Basically Hollywood is freaked in their old content world meanwhile Ze Frank is still going in his new content world. I like.
