I just read the review of the iPod Touch by Engadget. I must admit. I am pretty sad. Even considering I just bought a plane ticket back home and paid all my bills, I was still pretty tempted to get my hands on the iPod Touch.

The only thing that would make me hold out was its shoddy hard drive capacity. Otherwise I don’t really care to use it as an iPod replacement. I wanted it as a mobile media platform where I could tap into WiFi’s, surf the web, send email, check my calendar, etc. Kind of a Treo/Blackberry without the $40+ a month.

Alas, the software is lacking, which means I probably won’t buy. At least not until its properly hacked. With that, I can’t help but wonder- it looks like nearly the same OS as the iPhone. So I figure it’s just a matter of time till the iPhone is hacked, the email and calendar software extracted, and then a nice DIY on how to add the iPhone software to the Touch.

I’m counting on you Lifehacker & Engaget.

Oh, and by waiting 9 weeks I figure I’ll also save myself $200.
